Researching the spliceosome in the group of Prof. Dr. Reinhard Lührmann. The spliceosome is a complex molecular machine involved in determining which proteins are made by our cells. It trims and joins the RNA copy of a gene, so that it can serve as a blueprint for the manufacturing of the respective protein.

For my PhD thesis, I developed an in vitro system to study the composition and the shape of this molecular machine at different stages of the splicing process in the fruit fly.
